Prêts en ligne : Accès aux contacts, menaces, arnaques... la Police tire la sonnette d'alarme
Following the dismantling of the fraudulent loan network linked to the HICASH application, the National Police are calling on citizens to be extra vigilant in the face of the proliferation of online credit platforms.
The HICASH case, uncovered by the Special Division for Combating Cybercrime (DSC), revealed a vast digital fraud scheme that affected thousands of victims in Senegal. According to investigators, the platform promised quick loans through social media advertisements but, in reality, applied abusive terms and conditions.
To protect against this type of scam, the National Police recommends checking the reliability and legality of any lending platform before use, and avoiding downloading credit applications distributed only via social networks.
It also urges people to be wary of offers of instant loans without guarantees or formal procedures, not to allow access to their contacts and personal data when installing unknown applications, and to immediately report to the authorities any attempt at pressure or threat related to an online loan.
