Rabat : un supporter sénégalais pique une crise en pleine audience, le procès encore renvoyé
A potentially disastrous outcome was narrowly avoided during the hearing of the 18 Senegalese supporters detained since January 18th following Senegal's victory over Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations final. According to information from Libération, a fainting spell during the proceedings caused considerable distress at the Rabat courthouse on Thursday.
A defendant was urgently evacuated.
One of the defendants, Bara Dia, suffered a seizure in court, requiring immediate medical attention before being taken away. According to the latest reports, his condition is considered stable, the same source assures.
A third postponement that prolongs the wait
The newspaper reports that the trial has been postponed again, this time until February 12. The reason given remains the lawyers' strike in Morocco, which is paralyzing the proceedings. This is the third postponement since their arrest.
The defense's request for provisional release under guarantee, filed at the first hearing, went unanswered. The supporters were therefore returned to prison pending their next appearance before the judge. As a reminder, these Senegalese nationals are being prosecuted for "vandalism and violence against law enforcement," charges they categorically deny.
