Restauration des valeurs et cohésion sociale : l’héritage d’El Hadji Mouhamed Ndieguene
In the lead-up to the 34th edition of Laylatoul Qadri in Gueule Tapée, the Ta-Ifatoul Mouhammadiyatoul movement brought together experts and religious dignitaries on Saturday, February 28th, at the Douta Seck cultural center. The objective: to draw upon the teachings of the holy man to address contemporary crises.
A framework for reflection in the face of social changes.
The panel, themed "Crisis of Values and Social Cohesion: A Reflection Based on the Thoughts of El Hadji Mouhamed Ndieguene," served as a platform to analyze the current challenges facing Senegalese society. In a context marked by profound transformations, the organizers aimed to lay the groundwork for an intellectual and spiritual contribution to strengthening the social fabric.
The patron of this year's event, former Minister of Health Abdou Fall, delivered a forty-minute analysis. Drawing on his status as the grandson and direct witness to the teachings of the religious leader, he linked current issues to the need for a return to moral principles. His presentation highlighted El Hadji Mouhamed Ndieguene's thought as a bulwark against the erosion of values.
Several panelists, including El Hadji Khalifa Badiane, Professor Moustapha Mbaye, and Serigne Ass Barro Ndieguene, urged citizens to unite around what truly matters. They specifically recalled the exemplary conduct of Elhadji Ameth Sakhir Ndieguene during periods of unrest.
"We recalled the holy man's way of life, his way of reacting in times of crisis and the values he embodied both in religion and in the family sphere," stressed Serigne Lamine Ndieguene, coordinator of the event.
The panel also highlighted the continuity of this commitment through the figure of Serigne Ahmed Cissé Ndieguene. His career, combining high-level administration (National Education, UNESCO) and diplomacy, notably in Turkey, illustrates their desire to promote Islam and social development. The infrastructure built in Tayifa Ndieguene—mosque, daaras (Koranic schools), hospital, and training center—testifies to this integrated vision of religion serving the community.
The meeting concluded with the screening of a television film retracing the life and work of the holy man, offering participants a visual immersion in this moral and spiritual heritage.
