Richard-Toll : une jeune femme grièvement brûlée, sa belle-sœur en garde à vue
A violent altercation between two sisters-in-law turned tragic in the Thiabakh neighborhood of Richard-Toll on April 10th. Khady Aw, a 20-year-old housewife, suffered severe burns from boiling water and was admitted to the emergency room of the local public health facility.
According to Libération, the dispute erupted around 9 a.m. over the use of an electric kettle. The victim claims that her sister-in-law, R. Traoré (21 years old), took the kettle without her consent while she was using it to prepare her husband's breakfast. The ensuing argument escalated into an exchange of insults. As Khady Aw was leaving, the accused allegedly poured boiling water on her unexpectedly, causing serious injuries with severe skin detachment to her neck, torso, and back.
Arrested two days later, on April 12th, by the Richard-Toll police station, R. Traoré readily admitted to the acts. However, she attempted to justify her actions by claiming that the victim had injured her five-month-old child and had tried to attack her.
Placed in police custody, R. Traoré is being prosecuted for "attempted murder, voluntary assault and battery" resulting in a temporary incapacity for work (ITT) of 21 days, as well as for "endangering the lives of others", the same source points out.
