Rufisque : 235 talibés bénéficient de soins gratuits

The Gouye Mouride neighborhood was the scene of a large-scale citizen mobilization this Saturday. Led by pediatrician Dr. Madjiguène Ndiaye, the first edition of the "Wergu Yaramou Ndongo yii" program provided essential care to hundreds of children from Koranic schools in Rufisque.

This day of great social significance saw 235 talibés (students) from 33 daaras (Koranic schools) in the area receive care. Far from a simple routine consultation, the event offered a comprehensive range of medical services, including specialized care in pediatrics, ophthalmology, dentistry, and dermatology. Medical teams also conducted targeted screenings and deworming campaigns, while distributing medications, blankets, and hygiene kits to improve the often precarious daily lives of these young learners.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Madjiguène Ndiaye reaffirmed her conviction that no child should be left behind. For the founder, the ambition of "Wergu Yaramou Ndongo yii" is to restore the right to health and dignity for every talibé.

However, she used this platform to make an urgent appeal to local decision-makers, arguing that municipal authorities must stop being mere spectators and become committed actors. "At the local level, we have sometimes encountered silence and indifference where we expected listening and proximity," she lamented.

According to her, ignoring such citizen initiatives amounts to weakening the vital force of Rufisque's youth.

"Rufisque needs its managers, its professionals, its bold youth. Supporting these projects is investing in the future of our city," stressed Madjiguene Ndiaye.

This urgent need for action was confirmed by the testimony of the Quranic teacher Oustaz Maodo Gueye. He emphasized the distress of the heads of daaras who, faced with illness and the destitution of parents, often have no other choice but to rely on public generosity.

He expressed the wish to see such an operation repeated at least every six months to ensure ongoing monitoring.

On an institutional level, the event saw the participation of delegations from the Ministry of Health and other institutions.

For the organizers, the challenge now is to move beyond one-off actions to establish regular and structured medical monitoring within the daaras, aiming for normalization of access to care for these children.

Une activité de haute facture qui répond à une demande sociale vu les conditions de vie de ces daaras. Celà affecterait en partie leurs habitudes sanitaires.les autorités locales doivent épauler et soutenir ces actes
