RUFISQUE : TOUT SUR L'ARRESTATION DE L'AGRESSEUR AU COUPE-COUPE PAR LA POLICE
The Rufisque Central Police Station's Urban Security Unit arrested an individual for conspiracy and armed robbery committed at night using a machete and a motorcycle. The suspect is BM, 35 years old, who claims to be a security guard and resides in Diamaguène/Rufisque.
A viral video triggers the investigation
A video recently showing the assault of a girl has gone viral on social media. In the video, two young men riding a Jakarta motorcycle encountered a girl on a street corner in the teachers' housing complex in Rufisque around 7 a.m.
Upon reaching the latter, one of them got off the motorcycle and brandished a machete before forcing her to hand over her backpack.
First complaint
Around 1 p.m. on February 6, 2026, the victim, identified as M.FALL, a student in his final year at the Lycée Moderne de Rufisque, went to the police station to file a complaint against X.
Second complaint with the same modus operandi
Before the said video went viral, another victim, Mr. K/ GUÉYE, a student at the Higher Polytechnic School (ESP) of Dakar, filed a complaint against X on February 6, 2026, for having been the victim of robbery with violence using the same modus operandi.
Analysis of the video footage and cross-referencing of information led to the identification of the assailant wielding the machete as Bara, a resident of the Diamaguène neighborhood in Rufisque. Police received information indicating his presence in a dilapidated building (the former residence of Mbaye Jacques Diop) located near Gabar Square.
He was caught in the middle of doing laundry and had already dried the clothes he was wearing in the video, according to Seneweb sources.
Formal recognition by the victims
Taken to the station and briefly questioned at the police station, he tried to deny the charges against him, but without convincing anyone.
Presented to the victims M.FALL and MK GUÉYE, the man named B.MBOUP was formally recognized by them as the perpetrator of the assaults of which they were victims.
The suspect is being held in custody at the Rufisque Central Police Station. The investigation continues to identify his accomplice.
