Saraya : une poursuite douanière se termine par un accident sans victimes
A dramatic incident occurred this Friday morning in the town of Saraya, where a customs operation nearly turned into a tragedy. A service vehicle crashed into a shop following a chase initiated during a routine check. Fortunately, no lives were lost.
According to information gathered by Seneweb, customs officers were conducting checks on motorcycles and vehicles in irregular situations. During the operation, they attempted to stop a motorcyclist traveling at high speed. Refusing to comply, he fled, forcing the customs officers to give chase.
The situation became complicated on a bend, where the motorcyclist lost control of his vehicle and crashed. Almost simultaneously, the driver of the customs vehicle, facing the same trajectory constraints, also lost control of the steering wheel. The official vehicle then left the road and came to rest against a roadside shop.
The impact caused significant material damage. The storefront of the business was seriously damaged, while the front of the service vehicle sustained heavy damage. A tow truck was required to remove the car from the scene.
The motorcyclist involved in the incident managed to escape after his fall and remains, for the time being, untraceable.
Although the material damage is considerable, the absence of injuries remains the main relief in this affair which could have had much more serious consequences.
