Sébikotane : 16 escrocs étrangers arrêtés, un réseau QNET démantelé par la gendarmerie
The local police brigade in Sébikotane has just carried out a major operation against a QNET-type scam network operating in the Sébi Fass neighborhood. Sixteen individuals of foreign nationalities were arrested and taken into custody.
It all started with information received by the gendarmes of the local brigade in Sébikotane. A group of individuals, gathered in a rented house in the Sébi Fass neighborhood, were engaging in suspicious activities. Under the guise of selling goods, they were luring young people via Facebook and other social media platforms by promising them attractive job opportunities and plane tickets to Europe.
The modus operandi was well-oiled: once recruited by these false promises, the victims were in turn forced to trap other people, according to the classic principle of snowball selling.
Without delay, members of the local police brigade in Sébikotane went to the scene. They raided the house located in the Sébi Fass neighborhood, where all the members of the network were staying.
On site, investigators discovered that the network operated under the supervision of a certain Mr. Camara. Mr. Camara, who was apparently aware of the operation, was not found at the scene.
The operation resulted in the arrest of sixteen individuals placed in custody, including 12 Guinean nationals and 4 Malian nationals, according to Seneweb sources.
They are being prosecuted for conspiracy, fraud, and pyramid schemes. They will soon be brought before Prosecutor Cheikh Diakhoumpa, head of the Rufisque prosecutor's office.
