The Regional Directorate of Social Action in Sédhiou organized the first edition of the social protection and employability fair for women and young people on Saturday, December 27, 2025. The event was held in the commune of Samé Kanta, in the department of Sédhiou, in the village of Boussimballo.

This fair aims to mobilize communities, technical services, and partners to bring public and private social services closer to people living in isolated rural areas. It is part of a broader effort to decentralize social protection services and promote the socio-economic integration of women and young people.

The specific objectives are to bring public and private services closer to hard-to-reach rural populations and to promote the employability of women and young people.

It also involves offering free access to social services, including health, the equal opportunities card, equipment, as well as guidance and professional integration advice.

Finally, the Social Action department intends to support the formalization of organizations, the financing of income-generating activities and entrepreneurship, but also to share with communities the challenges, opportunities and inspiring experiences and effective strategies related to the employment of young people and women at the local level.

For this first edition, several activities were organized, including "Set-Settal" clean-up actions, reforestation, donations of clothes to daaras, free medical consultations, and registration for the equal opportunities card.

The handover of equipment to disabled people, presentations on the status of the entrepreneur and the opportunities for financing income-generating activities, sessions on the formulation of socio-economic projects and the formalization of associations were the other highlights of this relocation of the regional social action service.

The mayor of Samé Kanta welcomed this initiative and also advocated for the opening of a social promotion and reintegration center in the municipality.
