Sédhiou : Maimouna Dieye annonce une loi d'orientation pour l'autonomisation des femmes
This Thursday, the Sédhiou region resonated with the rhythm of National Women's Week. Warmly welcomed, the Minister of Family and Solidarity, Maimouna Dieye, praised the exceptional mobilization of the Southern Territorial Hub, paying a vibrant tribute to the resilience of the women of the Casamance region.
In line with the President's vision, the Minister emphasized that Senegal's economic and social recovery hinges on the development of human capital. She asserted that no sustainable development can be achieved without the full participation of women. "The economy has a real face, that of women standing tall," she declared to enthusiastic applause from the audience.
She emphasized that every micro-project led by a woman is a building block for the nation. Whether they are involved in arboriculture, horticulture, rice cultivation or the processing of cereal and fish products, women are not simply beneficiaries, but the "backbone of growth," she stressed.

Despite this dynamism, major challenges persist. Maimouna Dieye notably pointed to limited access to financing and agricultural inputs, the isolation of certain production areas, as well as the glaring lack of modern processing units.

To address these obstacles, the Minister announced a draft framework law on women's empowerment. This legislative framework will aim to remove structural barriers and strengthen social protection for women in the economic sphere. During her visits to the Women's Centers in Sédhiou and Bounkiling, she reiterated the government's commitment to transforming these constraints into real opportunities for development.
