The Grand-Yoff district police station arrested four individuals on Sunday, December 21, for their alleged involvement in several armed robberies committed using motorcycles in the area. The four suspects have diverse backgrounds.

They are A. Mbaye, 31, a phone repairman; SM Guèye, 15, and H. Diallo, 18, mechanics; and M. Sidibé, 17, a delivery driver. The youth of three of the four accused raises questions about the increasing involvement of minors in organized crime networks.

A. Mbaye was the first to be caught in the net. This phone repairman was arrested at the Patte d'Oie black market in possession of an Apple MacBook laptop stolen in Mermoz. It was thanks to the victim's geolocation of the device, after he went to the police station to request assistance, that the suspect was apprehended.

SM Guèye and H. Diallo were apprehended at the water catchment area following the theft of Ms. FB Barry's iPhone 14 Pro from their motorcycle. The swift intervention of law enforcement allowed for their arrest before they could escape with their loot.

A delivery driver involved in a three-way assault

The fourth and final suspect, Mr. Sidibé, a delivery driver, was apprehended at the Shell gas station in Patte d'Oie. He is accused of participating in the assault of Mr. Sèye, whose bag was violently snatched. The suspect was riding on a motorcycle carrying three passengers, a modus operandi these criminals seem to favor to maximize their chances of a quick escape.

The four suspected offenders were taken into custody at the Grand-Yoff police station. They are being prosecuted for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery using motorized vehicles (motorcycles), use of incapacitating gas, complicity, and receiving stolen goods, depending on the specific circumstances of their respective arrests.
