Série d'agressions de motos-taxis à Jaxaay : Un gang de six agresseurs démantelé par la police, deux filles servaient d'appât

The Jaxaay district police station, under the command of Commissioner Cheikh Ndiaye, dismantled a gang specializing in attacks on motorcycle taxis. Six members were arrested, including two girls who played a key role in the scheme. A seventh accomplice, Cheikhou, is on the run, according to Seneweb sources.

In the early hours of February 9, 2026, around 1:00 a.m., officers from the police station's investigative unit responded to a call reporting an assault followed by a motorcycle theft. At the scene, they arrested MBS, a 19-year-old student residing in Keur Mbaye Fall. The investigation revealed a particularly well-rehearsed modus operandi.

On the afternoon of Sunday, February 8, around 3 p.m., the suspect hired motorcycle taxi driver O. Barry, a resident of Patte d'Oie, to go to Yoff. Upon arrival, she paid via Wave and exchanged phone numbers with him, claiming she would use his services again later.

The ambush

The trap was sprung later that same night, around 11 p.m. The young woman contacted the motorcyclist again to ask him to take her to Jaxaay. After agreeing on a fare of 5,000 CFA francs, he picked her up at the designated location. During the ride, she spoke with a man named Modou who told her to get off at bus terminus 56.

No sooner had the driver parked than two individuals armed with machetes emerged from their hiding place to attack him. At knifepoint, they confiscated his TVS 125 motorcycle and fled.

The victim, however, managed to restrain MBS by clinging to his clothes and alerted the neighborhood, who came to her aid before contacting the police.

The central role of the two accomplice girls

When questioned, the MBS girl admitted to the acts and revealed that she belonged to a gang of seven people. She explained that her role, as well as that of another young girl in the group, was to act as bait to lure motorcycle taxi drivers into ambushes.

This confession led to the arrest of his accomplice, CS, 18, an electrical apprentice living in the Medina neighborhood. Arrested in the Mixta housing complex, she also admitted to being part of the gang and participating in several motorcycle thefts.

She confirmed playing the same role as MBS: picking up motorcycle taxis and driving them towards traps set by their male accomplices.

Thanks to a surveillance operation, investigators arrested four other members of the gang in turn: SM, 39, a carpenter living in Castors; MB alias "Badou", 33, a motorcycle-Jakarta driver residing in Jaxaay unit 24; PMC, 19, a welder residing in Jaxaay and MC, 25, a mechanic residing in Jaxaay unit 23.

The search uncovered three packets of Indian hemp on SM, intended for sale according to his statements. On MC, investigators seized 135,000 CFA francs, which he claimed represented the remaining proceeds from the sale of the motorcycle stolen from Ousmane Barry and sold in Kaolack.

Five attacks, one identical modus operandi

When questioned, all the suspects confessed, except for SM, who initially denied the charges before being confronted by his accomplices. The gang admitted to committing at least five assaults followed by motorcycle thefts, always under the threat of machetes.

Their operation was well-oiled: after each theft, they sold their loot to fences based in Dakar, Kaolack, and Touba Dialaw, for sums ranging from 150,000 to 200,000 CFA francs. MC was in charge of selling the stolen motorcycles. He notably sold O. Barry's motorcycle in Kaolack for 200,000 CFA francs to an individual he met by chance. A raid in Touba Dialaw to arrest a fence proved unsuccessful, as the suspect was found neither at his home nor in the city.

Two other victims identify their attackers

The investigation established a link with two complaints previously filed at the police station. On December 24, 2025, around midnight, IS Diallo, a resident of Guédiawaye, was attacked on his motorcycle in an identical scenario. Two young women had picked him up at the EDK gas station in the Technopole district to go to Jaxaay. Once at the Gouye Gui roundabout, they begged him to continue, promising him an extra 500 CFA francs. A few meters from his destination, one of the women strangled him from behind. Having lost control of his motorcycle, they all fell. Two hooded men then appeared and attacked him. One of them brandished a knife and attempted to stab him, grazing his neck and then his wrist. The assailants stole his TVS motorcycle before fleeing with the two young women.

The second case dates back to February 4, 2026 around 10 p.m. A. Ba, a 38-year-old Jakartaman residing in Patte d'Oie, had picked up a young lady in Colobane for Jaxaay, for 4,000 CFA francs.

Upon arrival, she claimed to have only 3,000 CFA francs in her Wave account and was waiting for a transfer. While they waited, two hooded men strangled her from behind. They stole her daily earnings (65,000 CFA francs) and her TVS 150 motorcycle before fleeing with her.

A. Ba formally identified MBS as the one who had lured him into the ambush. The suspect confessed to the crime. She and CS also admitted to being the ones who had hired IS Diallo and led him into the trap set by their accomplices.

A seventh accomplice is on the run.

The six arrested are being prosecuted for criminal association, multiple thefts committed at night with the use of bladed weapons, complicity, possession and offering of Indian hemp.

The seventh member of the gang, Cheikhou, alias "Ndiol," remains at large. According to information gathered by Seneweb, he learned of his accomplices' arrest and fled. Raids conducted at his home and places he frequented have been unsuccessful. He is actively being sought.

Those arrested will be presented this Thursday to prosecutor Saliou Dicko, head of the Pikine-Guédiawaye prosecutor's office.
