Supporters détenus au Maroc : les 18 Sénégalais interdits de parler wolof
Scheduled for this Thursday, the trial of the 18 Senegalese supporters arrested in Morocco on the sidelines of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final could be postponed once again due to the risk of a continued strike by Moroccan lawyers. In that case, the defendants would see their ordeal extended.
Indeed, as reported by Les Échos, fans of the Lions are subject to severe restrictions. They are being held in two separate prisons in Rabat, the newspaper reveals. The same source continues: "They can only make phone calls on Mondays and Fridays. And each person is limited to three minutes. No more. Worse still, they are forbidden from speaking any language other than French."
That's not the case. Les Échos adds that only diplomatic and consular authorities and people with family ties to them are allowed to see the 18 supporters, "and even then, with restrictions."
The newspaper points out that the president of the "12th Gaïndé", Issa Laye Diop, and the head of communication for the Senegalese Football Federation, Bakary Cissé, remained in Morocco to support them.
