Coordinated by the National Road Safety Agency (ANASER) and the Highway Operating and Management Company (SEGEA), in collaboration with the national gendarmerie and the National Association of Mechanics, actions around the objective of "zero fatal accidents" on the toll highway, through awareness campaigns, aim, in particular, at securing certain routes such as Keur Balla and Keur Ndiaye Lo.

Several concrete measures are being applied: fencing and wire mesh; formal prohibition of crossing on foot or cutting security fences; animal control; "zero tolerance" operations carried out by the gendarmerie to penalize stray livestock on the roads; local awareness campaigns involving village chiefs, religious guides (especially during major pilgrimages like the Magal of Touba) and mechanics' associations to demand vehicles in good condition before accessing the tollbooth.

For this Tabaski 2026, the Highway Operating and Management Company (SEGEA SA) recommends that drivers carry out rigorous technical checks on their vehicles before taking the highway.

“We are seeing a huge number of deaths and accidents resulting in injuries on the highways,” lamented Mouhamadou Moustapha Ndao, an official with SEGEA SA, during an awareness-raising visit to a village located near the Thiès-Sud rest area, between Keur Massamba Guèye and Keur Barra Kébé, on the Dakar-Touba highway. This visit served as a platform to encourage highway users to take the necessary precautions to minimize travel-related risks. The Tabaski celebration is an occasion for large-scale passenger movements as people leave Dakar and other major urban centers for the interior of the country.

Mouhamadou Moustapha Ndao invites those concerned to carry out all technical checks before using the highway, to behave properly and to be aware that human life is precious.

Alima Ndiaye, president of the Association of Mechanics of Senegal, which carries out free checks on vehicles for a worry-free journey, assures that these actions will continue during major religious events, including the Magal of Touba and the Marian pilgrimage of Popenguine.

Operations that aim for the goal of "zero fatal accidents" on highways, with the fight against vehicle breakdowns, overheating, punctures, and vehicles without lights.
