Tentative de meurtre à la Corniche Ouest : Un fumeur de chanvre indien poignarde un policier
On Thursday, April 9, 2026, around 1 p.m., officers from the Point-E district police station, under the command of Commissioner Abdou Sarr, were conducting a routine patrol on the Corniche Ouest. Upon reaching the "Dent de la Mer" rock formation, they spotted three individuals sitting on some rocks smoking marijuana.
During the intervention, police officer ML Diouf attempted to subdue one of the suspects. Both tripped on some stones and fell. Taking advantage of the fall, the suspect stabbed the officer several times while he was on the ground. His colleagues immediately intervened to restrain and disarm him. A kitchen knife handle was seized from him, according to Seneweb sources.
The officer was evacuated to the Gaspard Camara health center where he received initial treatment. He had multiple stab wounds on his back and a superficial scalp wound.
He was given a ten-day medical certificate before being released with an appointment within two days.
When questioned, Mamadou Ba, 37, unemployed and residing in Grand Dakar, readily admitted to the acts. He stated that he stabbed the officer to avoid arrest. He was taken into custody on charges of attempted murder, resisting arrest, assault and battery, and intentional battery of an officer in the performance of his duties.
