Tentative de meurtre à Saint-Louis : un homme dans le coma après avoir reçu une brique à la tête
A violent brawl outside a bar in the Cité Vauvert district nearly cost a man his life on the morning of Friday, March 27, 2026. The victim is in a coma, and his alleged attacker is in police custody for attempted murder.
It all began around 9 a.m., when firefighters rushed a man with severe head injuries, identified by the initials MT, to the Saint-Louis Regional Hospital.
Alerted by the emergency services, the central police station of Saint-Louis dispatched its officers to the scene and quickly arrested the suspect: AS, 33 years old, a mason, residing in the Ngallèle district.
When questioned by investigators, he admitted to the acts while claiming self-defense. According to him, an argument had initially broken out between him and MT outside the bar "Chez l'Américain." After witnesses separated the two men, MT allegedly chased him and struck him with a brick, injuring his right index finger, according to Seneweb sources.
In retaliation, AS allegedly picked up the same piece of brick and struck his victim a violent blow on the head, who immediately collapsed before falling unconscious.
Placed in police custody for attempted murder, AS is now answering for his actions before the courts. Prosecutor B. Thiam has been assigned to the case. The investigation is ongoing.
