Tentative d’infanticide à la Cité Bissap : une étudiante présumée arrêtée après un accouchement clandestin
On May 9, 2026, the HLM district police station arrested a young woman presenting herself as a student for an alleged case of attempted infanticide of her newborn.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on the night of May 8-9, 2026, around 12:15 a.m., in the Cité Bissap neighborhood. Police officers were called by firefighters to a residence in the area.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police discovered the suspect lying in the toilet of the house, exhibiting clinical signs suggesting a recent clandestine childbirth.
Initial investigations revealed that after her birth, the infant was placed in the drainage pipes leading to the septic tank. Thanks to the intervention of the firefighters, the baby girl was successfully pulled alive from the pipes.
However, the newborn was in critical condition. He was urgently transferred to Idrissa Pouye Hospital in Grand Yoff for intensive care. The suspect was also admitted to the same hospital under police guard.
After 35 hours in the hospital, she was given a discharge slip by her doctor. She was then taken to the police station before being placed in custody.
