Thiès : Il vole la moto de son frère et les économies de sa grand-mère pour mener la belle vie et préparer....

A 23-year-old man emptied his family home of his savings, jewelry and material possessions before being caught by the police in Kaolack.

The Police Station of the First District of Thiès recorded, on March 3, 2026, a complaint for theft filed by I. Mané, residing in the Bakhdad district of Thiès, against his own son, named A. Mané.

Taking advantage of the peace and quiet in the house, A. Mané allegedly committed several thefts. He first broke into his paternal grandmother's room, stealing approximately 10 million FCFA as well as gold and yellow metal jewelry. He then stole a TMAX motorcycle belonging to his younger brother from the family garage, before taking his father's TECNO Spark 10 mobile phone, SIM card included.

An effective manhunt thanks to police cooperation

The investigation led to the discovery of the stolen phone in the Medina Baye neighborhood of Kaolack. The Kaolack Central Police Station, immediately notified, was able to apprehend the suspect near the city's central market. This cooperation between police services proved crucial in the swift resolution of the case.

Caught red-handed in luxury

At the time of his arrest, A. Mané, claiming to be a hairdresser, was in possession of a veritable haul: two high-end iPhones (iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro Max), numerous yellow metal jewelry pieces, a Rado brand watch, a CMS bank card in his grandmother's name, new clothes and a sum of 1,755,500 FCFA in cash, not to mention the stolen TMAX motorcycle, according to Seneweb sources.

A travel project behind the flight

When questioned, the accused admitted to the facts without hesitation. He stated that he had used some of the stolen money to buy phones and clothes, before admitting that he had plans to travel abroad, presumably financed by the proceeds of his family's thefts.

The Public Prosecutor at the High Court of Thiès has been notified. An investigation has now been opened to shed full light on this matter.
