Thiès : Il vole le mouton de sa tante pour financer son voyage et finit à la barre !
The Thiès court of summary jurisdiction examined, this Friday, April 24, a rather unusual theft case involving a 23-year-old carpenter, identified as Mr. Guèye. He is being prosecuted for stealing a sheep belonging to his own aunt, P. Niang.
According to the evidence gathered during the investigation, the accused allegedly acted at night, stealing the animal from the family enclosure, before taking it to the "daral" (cattle market) with the intention of reselling it to finance a travel project.
In court, he did not contest the facts. "I stole it and took it to the market with the intention of reselling it for 150,000 FCFA to finance my travels," he readily admitted. For her part, the complainant recounted the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the theft. Upon arriving at the enclosure that morning to feed her livestock, she noticed the animal was missing. After searching, she finally managed to find her sheep at the market.
Considering the facts to be established, the public prosecutor requested the application of the law. The court adjourned the case for deliberation before rendering its judgment.
