Thiès : jugé pour le vol de 48 panneaux solaires, C. Seck invoque des difficultés financières
The individuals named C. Seck, I. Sidibé, A. Diouf, M. Diop and A. Ngom appeared this Friday, May 15, before the court of flagrant offenses in Thiès.
The first man is being prosecuted for the theft of 48 solar panels, while the other four are being tried for receiving stolen goods.
According to the indictment, C. Seck stole equipment from the company that employed him. To carry out his operation, he wore the company uniform to deceive the local population before dismantling solar panel installations in several locations.
The defendant then used a vehicle to transport the stolen equipment and resell it to I. Sidibé, A. Diouf, M. Diop, and A. Ngom at prices far below their actual value. Each solar panel was sold for 30,000 FCFA, approximately half the usual price.
In court, C. Seck admitted to the charges against him. He explained that he acted due to financial difficulties.
For their part, the defendants charged with receiving stolen goods contested the accusations. They maintained that they were unaware of the fraudulent origin of the solar panels they purchased. They announced that all the equipment had been returned to the owner.
Considering the facts sufficiently established, the public prosecutor requested the application of the law.
The case has been adjourned for deliberation.
