Thiès : Les cheminots ex-temporaires suspendent leur mouvement d'humeur
After 48 hours of protests, former temporary railway workers have lifted the blockade on the railway line. This suspension of their strike order follows negotiations with the prefect of Thiès, Mame Less Cabou, and the general director of Senegal's national railway company, Ibrahima Ba.
These protests were suspended, although details of the agreement were not immediately available. Therefore, these strikers will be granted an audience by the Minister of Transport this Thursday afternoon, October 16, 2025, in Dakar, to discuss their demands, which revolve around the non-payment of their retirement pensions for two decades, despite their significant contribution to the development of the Senegalese railway.
A very successful 48-hour mobilization, widely followed by comrades from Géo, Tambacounda, and Dakar, who all met in Thiès to organize blockades of the railway lines, sitting on the tracks from 6 a.m. to prevent any train traffic. These former railway workers are meeting next Friday at the Thiès train station for a general assembly to discuss their findings.
