Thiès : un chauffeur de camion jugé pour tentative de vol d'une moto Jakarta devant le tribunal
Truck driver Y. Fall was summoned to the bar of the Thiès court of flagrant offenses for attempted theft of a Jakarta motorcycle belonging to G. Diagne.
According to the facts presented in court, the defendant allegedly found the motorcycle parked in front of the Thiès High Court. He is accused of having broken the steering mechanism of the vehicle in an attempt to steal it.
Spotted by passersby, they shouted "Thief!" before apprehending him. Mr. Y. Fall was then arrested and remanded in custody.
Before the judge, the accused categorically denied the charges against him. He explained that he was simply sitting on the motorcycle and that when he got up to buy bananas from a vendor across from the courthouse, some individuals intercepted him, accusing him of attempted theft. Continuing his defense, Y. Fall maintained that he didn't even know how to ride a motorcycle.
For his part, the plaintiff, G. Diagne, stated that he was in the courtroom when shouts of "Thief!" rang out. Upon leaving to investigate, he claims to have discovered that the incident involved his own motorcycle. He added that the defendant was arrested at the scene.
The prosecution, for its part, requested the application of the law.
The case has been adjourned for deliberation.
