Thiès : un chauffeur de moto-taxi accusé de viol par une cliente mineure
The Criminal Chamber of the Thiès High Court examined the case of motorcycle taxi driver A. Ndiaye on Monday, February 23. He is being prosecuted for rape, pedophilia, and abduction of a minor. A resident of the Nguinth neighborhood in Thiès, he is accused of sexually assaulting S. Niang, who was under 16 years old at the time of the events, which occurred in 2023.
According to the evidence in the file, the victim had left his home in Nguinth to spend the night at the home of a certain Ngouda, in the Nasrou district.
Worried by her absence, her family searched for her before finding her at the Mame Bamba bus stop in Nguinth, in the company of the accused, A. Ndiaye. The minor then stated that she had been raped by this motorcycle taxi driver who had picked her up after she requested a ride.
In court, A. Ndiaye denied the charges against him, arguing that he had only driven the young woman to the requested address in the Nasrou neighborhood before leaving. "I had never met her before. She asked me to drive her to someone's house, and I took her to the door before leaving. I never had sexual relations with her, and no one caught me with her," he told the judge, in the absence of the plaintiff.
The public prosecutor argued that there was insufficient evidence to uphold the charges of rape and pedophilia against the accused. However, the prosecution requested that the defendant be acquitted of these two charges, while finding him guilty of abduction of a minor. The prosecutor also requested a three-year prison sentence for A. Ndiaye.
The verdict has been set for March 9, 2026.
