Thiès : Un élève de terminal tue un jardinier et jette le corps dans un puits
The Notto Diobass local police arrested high school senior A. Faye for murder. On Sunday, October 26, 2025, around 5:00 p.m., A. Faye was traveling to the annual pilgrimage (Ziar) of a religious leader in the village of Attaba, accompanied by two young boys, SS Diop (13 years old) and K. Guèye (8 years old). Near the village of Keur Amar Mané, his motorcycle ran out of gas. While looking for help, he encountered Cheikhouna, a gardener working in a field. A. Faye asked him for some gasoline to continue his journey. When the gardener refused, the situation escalated.
According to initial findings of the investigation, the argument escalated into a violent fight. In the ensuing confusion, A. Faye allegedly drowned Cheikhouna in a basin near a well, causing his asphyxiation and death. To cover up his crime, the student ordered his companions to leave the area before throwing the gardener's body into the well and taking his cell phone.
Two days after the events, consumed by guilt and after long discussions with his parents, A. Faye finally confessed to his crime.
Alerted, the local police brigade in Notto Diobass, supported by the Thiès research brigade, went to his home in Unit 2 of the Parcelles-Assainies district where he was arrested. On the instructions of the public prosecutor at the Thiès High Court, a request was sent to the forensic pathologist at the Idrissa Pouye General Hospital in Dakar for an autopsy.
At the end of the investigation, the student was brought before the High Court of Thiès, then placed under a detention order by the investigating judge in charge of the case.
