Thiès : Une collégienne de 14 ans réitère son amour pour son présumé violeur
It was a chance discovery that started it all. While searching her daughter's bag, a mother living in Thiapong found two boxes of emergency contraceptive pills that had already been used. This discovery led to a complaint being filed on March 28, 2026, at the Nguinth police station in Thiès, against a 23-year-old mechanic named A. Maiga.
As the hearings progressed, the facts became clearer. The victim, N. Niang, 14 years old, a student in 4th grade at CEM Ousmane Ngom, admitted to having an intimate relationship with the accused since December 2025.
In January and then February 2026, the two met in the young man's room in Nasrou, where they had unprotected sex. A ritual then developed: after each encounter, A. Maiga gave the teenager a morning-after pill to prevent pregnancy.
It was precisely these boxes, kept in the schoolgirl's bag, that betrayed the relationship. The mother, alarmed by her daughter's repeated absences and lateness to school, had decided to search her belongings. The truth was thus uncovered.
In front of investigators, the minor stood by her statements. Not only was she consenting, but she also had feelings for A. Maiga.
But the consent of a 14-year-old girl has no legal standing. A request for gynecological examinations has been sent to the director of the Thiès regional hospital.
When questioned by police, A. Maiga admitted to the acts, simply claiming ignorance of the victim's age. This argument did not prevent his detention, where he was placed on charges of pedophilia, rape, and abduction of a minor.
The investigation is open and ongoing.
