Tivaouane-Peulh : Il terrasse son frère, brandit un couteau puis incendie sa chambre
The Lamine Sow district of Tivaouane-Peulh was the scene of a violent family quarrel followed by an arson attack on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
According to the victim, student A. Fall, it all began around 6:00 p.m. when his mother invited him to accompany her to the Baye Fall Niang neighborhood. His brother, P. Fall, chased him and physically assaulted him, knocking him to the ground in front of his mother. When neighbors intervened, P. Fall brandished a knife and threatened to kill his brother. Not stopping there, P. Fall returned to the family home and set fire to his brother's room.
The fire was brought under control thanks to the quick response of local residents. No lives were lost, but the material damage is significant: a wardrobe, clothing, and a mattress were destroyed.
Alerted around 9 p.m., officers from the Tivaouane-Peulh local brigade, under the command of Warrant Officer Sow, arrived at the scene. P. Fall was arrested and taken into custody for arson, according to Seneweb sources.
A climate of terror that has been in place for a long time
A. Fall told the police that his older brother regularly provoked him to assert his authority, often armed with a knife. He had considered taking legal action several times, but had abandoned the idea each time under pressure from the neighborhood elders and their mother.
Brought before the Rufisque High Court in Diamniadio on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, Prosecutor Cheikh Diakhoumpa requested the opening of a judicial investigation. Following the prosecutor's request, the investigating judge of the first chamber charged P. Fall and remanded him in custody.
