Tivaouane : Un camion-citerne d'acide des ICS se renverse sur la Route Nationale 2
A dramatic accident involving a tanker truck belonging to the Chemical Industries of Senegal (ICS) occurred Tuesday evening in Tivaouane. The incident took place on National Highway 2, just a few meters from the Islamic Bank of Senegal (BIS) branch. According to information gathered at the scene, a broken bolt caused the tanker to detach and overturn onto the road.
The vehicle, registration number DL 53 90 E, was carrying a shipment of acid. It had left the ICS facilities in Mboro and was heading towards Dakar when it lost its cargo. This accident caused significant disruptions on this strategic road, which is particularly busy at that time of day.
As soon as the accident was reported, officers from the Tivaouane urban police station were immediately deployed to the scene. Their intervention secured the area and allowed them to carry out the necessary investigations to prevent any risk of chemical exposure for the surrounding population.
Subsequently, ICS technical services intervened with the appropriate equipment to remove the tanker and clear the public road. Traffic was able to return to normal after the truck was removed, ending several hours of congestion on National Route 2.
