The National Brigade for the Fight Against Piracy and Smuggling (BNLPC) has dealt a fatal blow to audiovisual piracy on the Petite-Côte. Following painstaking work, investigators dismantled the largest illegal cable distribution network in the area, in the commune of Dougar (near Toubab Dialaw), reports L'Observateur.
According to the same source, the investigation located the network's headquarters on the first floor of an unassuming building, converted into a veritable clandestine distribution platform. The search of the premises uncovered an impressive array of technology, revealing the scale of the operation.
In total, lists the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group, law enforcement seized 44 decoders belonging to several well-known packages (Canal+, beIN Sports, StarTimes, etc.), as well as 31 fiber optic receivers, a transmitter and three system racks enabling large-scale illegal redistribution.
Although all the equipment was confiscated, the main perpetrator, identified as Thierno, managed to escape before the operation. The alleged mastermind is actively being sought by the relevant authorities. On the instructions of the public prosecutor, the National Brigade for the Fight Against Corruption and Related Offenses (BNLPC) is continuing its investigations to trace the entire network and identify any potential accomplices, according to the Gfm news report.
