Vice Admiral Oumar Wade, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces (CEMGA), carried out a tour of military zones No. 5 and No. 6 from April 8 to 10, marking an important step in his contact with the armed forces deployed in the field.

The first phase of this visit took him to Ziguinchor, where he was received by the commander of military zone no. 5. The Chief of the General Staff then went to the Bignona military camp and the Sindian sector.

While there, he familiarized himself with the working conditions of the personnel and commended their unwavering commitment. The units have notably achieved significant results in neutralizing armed groups, destroying cannabis fields, and combating illegal timber trafficking.

The tour continued on April 10 in Kolda, at the command post of Military Zone No. 6, which also covers the Sédhiou region. The high command observed significant operational achievements and sustained dynamism among the units engaged in securing this part of the territory.

Beyond the evaluation of the systems, this visit provided an opportunity for direct exchanges with the troops and the transmission of new strategic directions.

In concluding his tour, Vice Admiral Oumar Wade reaffirmed the high command's commitment to improving the living conditions, equipment and support of deployed forces.

This field mission was also marked by strong tributes to the soldiers who fell in the service of the nation, illustrating the determination of the Senegalese armed forces to relentlessly pursue their mission of protecting the territory and securing the population.
