Trafic de drogue et Gamou : 4 dealers dont 2 Gambiens arrêtés par la BRS de Kaolack
As part of the operations to secure the Gamou of Médina Baye, the Regional Narcotics Brigade (BRS) of Kaolack, under the OCRTIS (Central Office for the Suppression of Illicit Drug Trafficking), carried out a successful operation which resulted in the arrest of four suspected dealers.
The police intervention, carried out in the districts of Médina Mbamba and Kahone, led to the seizure of particularly worrying narcotics:
Ecstasy:
- 95 ecstasy pills
Hashish:
- 47 grams in total, packaged in different forms:
- 6 balls of 5 grams each
- 1 ball of 10 grams
- 1 ball of 2.5 grams
- 9 "kepas" of 0.5 grams each
Four arrests, including two Gambian nationals
The police arrested four individuals suspected of being involved in this trafficking:
1. I. Diouf, born in 1993 in Kaolack, presenting himself as a street vendor and residing in Médina Baye
2. O. Sene, born in 1984, declaring himself a mason by profession
3. Y. Gaye, born in 1995 in Bakoteh in Gambia, living in Sare Cunda and passing through Kaolack, presenting himself as a merchant
4. I. Sall, born in 1994 in Saré Kounda in Gambia, also declaring himself a merchant, according to Seneweb sources.
A cross-border network dismantled
The presence of two Gambian nationals among those arrested suggests the existence of a cross-border trafficking network that takes advantage of large religious gatherings to distribute illicit substances. This operation illustrates the vigilance of Senegalese authorities in the face of attempts to exploit spiritual events for criminal purposes.
The fight against drugs continues
This intervention by the BRS of Kaolack under the command of police lieutenant Mbagnick Diouf
is part of the overall strategy to combat drug trafficking in Senegal, which is particularly reinforced during major religious events that attract large numbers of pilgrims.
