Trafic de voitures à Rufisque : Le neveu d'un célèbre marabout- chef de parti politique arrêté

The Rufisque Central Police Station's Urban Security Unit brought charges against two individuals on Tuesday for criminal conspiracy, forgery and use of forged documents, breach of trust, and receiving stolen goods. The case, involving the fraudulent rental-sale of vehicles, uncovered a veritable criminal network.

These are entrepreneur I. Ba, born in 1971 and residing in Tivaouane Peulh, and trader O. Mbacké, born in 1977 and residing in Guendel/Rufisque, who sells vehicles. The latter is the nephew of a prominent religious leader and head of a political party residing in the Kébémer department, according to Seneweb sources.

A rental that turns into a theft

Mr. Ndiaye, a resident of Pikine, went to the Urban Security Unit of the Rufisque Central Police Station to file a complaint against X for the theft of his vehicle.

According to his statement, on October 30, 2025, he rented his black Mazda CX5 (AA 459 RS) to a man named I. Ba for four days at a cost of 45,000 CFA francs per day. The man was supposed to be traveling to Fatick.

With the GPS signal cut, the trap closes.

The following day, October 31, around 4 p.m., the complainant noticed that he had suddenly lost the GPS signal on his vehicle and could no longer contact I. Ba, who had rented it. The last known location was Rufisque. He then went to the central police station to file a complaint.

An investigation that leads to a mechanical workshop

On site, the complainant was put in contact with members of the research brigade who, through his mobile phone, were able to identify the location where the GPS was switched off: a mechanics workshop located in the SIPRES housing estate.

At the scene, the vehicle was found while it was being repaired for an engine replacement.

The car salesman caught in the trap

When asked about the origin of the car, the chief mechanic stated that it was given to him by a vehicle seller named O. Mbacké for an engine replacement.

The latter, caught in a trap with the mechanic, was apprehended on the road leading to the teachers' housing complex in Rufisque. Briefly questioned, O. Mbacké stated that he had bought the vehicle from I. Ba for 3 million CFA francs, while the normal price for the vehicle ranges between 7 and 8 million.

I. Ba was in turn arrested at the roundabout of the SOCABEG housing estate.

It should be noted that O. Mbacké was found in a brand new white Mazda CX-5 when he was arrested. He claims that I. Ba sold him this car for 4 million CFA francs, while the normal price ranges between 9 and 11 million.

When briefly questioned about the white Mazda, I. Ba stated that he had rented it from a car rental agency located in Yoff, without providing further details. The agency in question has not yet been identified.

Fake identity documents

It should be noted that I. Ba sold the two vehicles on the basis of false identity documents which, after verification, bear the names that appear on the registration documents but do not exist in the database of the Directorate of Automation of Files (DAF) according to Seneweb sources close to the prosecutor's office.

A third vehicle in the network

There is also a third vehicle, a Toyota RAV 4 costing 16 million CFA francs, which was rented by I. Ba and sold to O. Mbacké for only 4 million CFA francs.
