«Travail décent et migration de main-d'œuvre» : la CNTS prend le taureau de l’emploi des jeunes par les cornes

The CNTS (National Confederation of Senegalese Workers) is holding its 12th congress this Saturday and Sunday. The theme chosen for this event is "Decent Work and Labor Migration," a discussion on the issue of youth employment. "We felt it necessary to take these two issues as our central theme," explained the union's general secretary, Mody Guiro, in an interview published this Friday in Le Soleil.

"Around this theme," the union representative explained, "we will organize panels with university professors and experts to address this issue. We will listen to the voices of workers, researchers, the government, and employers."

Guiro points out that the issue of employment is a subject of concern in "many African countries like Senegal", composed mostly of young people.

“The major challenges,” argues the CNTS leader, “are how to ensure that these young Senegalese, or from elsewhere, can access decent employment. Often faced with a lack of jobs, they sometimes turn to precarious employment in the informal sector. The informal sector is a gateway to irregular migration: many young people who start in this sector save money and then attempt to emigrate.”
