SI Diop, 49, was tried yesterday, Tuesday, in the Dakar court of summary jurisdiction for a morals case. He was arrested by the Special Cybersecurity Division (DSC) following a complaint filed on March 24, 2026, by his ex-partner, K. Cissé, for insults, threats, blackmail, and dissemination of personal data.

According to the preliminary investigation, the two individuals had a romantic relationship between 2022 and 2023, during which they exchanged intimate content. The complainant claims that a video was recorded without her knowledge during a video call. During his hearing, S. Diop admitted to recording the video without her consent, stating that he informed his girlfriend afterward.

K. Cissé claims to have received, on the night of March 12, 2026, insulting messages accompanied by intimate videos of her, sent via ephemeral messaging. When questioned by investigators, the accused confirmed these events, describing his actions as a reaction of anger following an argument.

The examination of SI Diop's phones, carried out with his consent, revealed several intimate videos involving different people, some of whom have been identified. The defendant stated that he kept this content for personal use, to remember those moments.

In court, SI Diop admitted to collecting and distributing images deemed contrary to public decency, before offering his apologies. For her part, K. Cissé admitted to sending intimate videos to the defendant as part of their three-year relationship. She forgave him and did not seek damages.

The public prosecutor requested the application of the penal code. The defense, represented by Mr. Takha Cissé, argued by placing the facts in their context. According to the lawyer, relations between the two parties deteriorated after the defendant married another woman. Following a heated exchange, the plaintiff allegedly insulted the defendant. Enraged, the defendant reportedly sent her a short video message to remind her of their past relationship. Mr. Cissé thus pleaded for leniency from the court.

In delivering his verdict, the defendant was sentenced to 3 months suspended.
