The Collective of former NSTS workers in Thiès met in general assembly on Monday, January 12, 2026, in front of the factory, to, once again, express their dismay at the unfulfilled promises of the general manager, Ibrahima Macodou Fall.

The spokespeople of the day, Balla Diakhaté, former NSTS agent (1998), El Hadj Diouf, staff representative, Henri Mendy, retired in 2015, denounce "the hell of the former agents, but especially of the widows and orphans of the disappeared, in an unimaginable collective suffering, because Ibrahima Macodou Fall never respected his commitments towards them".

"We have been on furlough since 2000 and to this day, a quarter of a century already, we are waiting for our entitlements and nothing has been paid. The luckiest have only received 50% of these entitlements. So there is still a lot to be done. On May 31, 2025, CEO Fall took it upon himself to pay, at the latest by December 2025. But since then nothing has been done," these former workers declared.

That is why "we are here to demand all our rights to technical unemployment and retirement. We were 435 workers and 3/4 have died. Their families are very tired today."

They are appealing to the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, and his Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, to come to their aid.

According to them, "the company has been bankrupt for over a quarter of a century, and CEO Fall is constantly looking for partners who never materialize." Hence the need to organize a forum on the Thiès textile industry to identify what's hindering the factory's recovery, especially since these former employees suspect that "a large portion of the company's machinery has been sold for scrap."
