Violences lors des navétanes à Diogo: Un gendarme blessé, 5 supporters arrêtés

The Navétanes community was once again rocked by scenes of violence last Tuesday in Diogo, where a football match between ASC Diamaguène and ASC Lébou Gui ended in confusion and clashes. Five people were arrested following these incidents.

A match that turns into an incident

The match between ASC Diamaguène and ASC Lébou Gui ended in a victory for Diamaguène with a score of 1-0. However, unexpectedly, the supporters of the losing team expressed their discontent violently by attacking the referee at the end of the match.

Frustrated fans began pelting the man in black with projectiles, creating a dangerous situation on the pitch.

Law enforcement intervention

Faced with this tense situation, the referee benefited from the protection of elements of the Diogo proximity brigade who escorted him and protected him against stone throwing.

Unfortunately, the presence of the gendarmes did nothing to calm the situation. One gendarme was slightly injured in the face by a stone, requiring reinforcements to be sent. The situation worsened when another soldier was hit in the back with a stone, according to Seneweb sources.

The police arrested the author of this last jet, but his comrades opposed his arrest, allowing the accused to escape in the general confusion.

Five arrests at the end of the investigation

Despite this initial leak, the ongoing investigations conducted by the Diogo Community Brigade police bore fruit. Five supporters were ultimately arrested in connection with this case.

The charges against them are particularly serious: rebellion, contempt of court, violence and assault, as well as assault and battery.

Referral to court planned

Currently in police custody at the Diogo Community Brigade, the five accused are expected to appear before the Thiès High Court on Friday to answer these serious charges. The competition has been temporarily suspended by the administrative authorities.
