Violences sexuelles et mariages d’enfants : Tivaouane valide une stratégie de lutte
A strengthened strategy to combat sexual violence and child marriage, within the framework of a project called "Waar+", has just been validated in Tivaouane (Thiès) by institutional, health and community actors.
Now planned in the religious city of Mame Maodo and in Thiadiaye, the project aims to fill the gaps identified in this area, by expanding its target to adolescents, particularly those attending Koranic schools, and by strengthening access to services for the most vulnerable populations.
Beyond knowledge production, the initiative includes awareness campaigns, training, and enhanced psychosocial support. The goal is to produce lasting changes in behaviors and social norms.
During its second meeting dedicated to the protection of adolescents in Senegal, the steering committee had to present the results of the baseline survey, collect observations from stakeholders and endorse the operational guidelines of the project, with a view to scaling up prevention mechanisms.
