Yeumbeul : un jeune homme arrêté pour détention et utilisation de faux billets de banque
The Yeumbeul district police station arrested an individual for possession and use of counterfeit banknotes.
The accused, identified by the initials P. Gomis, born in 2002 and residing in the Ascena district of Yeumbeul, is accused of having passed several counterfeit bills to a merchant.
According to the information gathered, the events date back to June 30, 2026, at around 11:00 AM. On that day, P. Gomis placed an order for two tubs of protein powder worth 60,000 FCFA with the vendor Sada Keïta. After receiving the products, he gave the merchant 60,000 FCFA in banknotes, which turned out to be counterfeit.
In the same vein, he also placed a second order for a jar of creatine worth 10,000 FCFA, paid for with another bill which also turned out to be counterfeit.
When questioned by police, P. Gomis was subjected to a search during which another counterfeit 10,000 FCFA note was discovered in his pocket.
During his hearing, the suspect initially offered numerous explanations before admitting to being in possession of the banknotes. He stated that he obtained them after selling his mobile phone.
The seven seized banknotes were sent to the Bureau for Combating Document Fraud for expert analysis. The results of the requisition confirmed that the banknotes submitted for analysis were not genuine and were counterfeit.
Following the investigation, P. Gomis was taken into custody for possession and use of counterfeit banknotes. The public prosecutor at the Pikine-Guédiawaye High Court was informed of his arrest.
