On Tuesday, October 28, the Ziguinchor police station arrested A. Diedhiou, a 30-year-old mechanic living in Linguère. The man was posing as an agent of the Territorial Surveillance Directorate (DST). He was arrested at the SIA dance bar in the Belfort district, in possession of handcuffs, a badge, and a national police badge, according to Seneweb sources.

The arrest took place on Tuesday, October 28, at the SIA dance hall, located in the Belfort district of Ziguinchor. It was there that the police arrested A. Diédhiou.

The man has been posing for several days as a police officer working for the Territorial Surveillance Directorate (DST) in Linguère. He has clearly managed to fool those around him with this false identity.

When the police conducted a body search of the suspect, they made a startling discovery. A. Diédhiou was carrying all the material necessary to lend credibility to his imposture:

- A pair of handcuffs: an emblematic accessory of the police force

- A national police badge: official distinctive sign of the agents

- A badge with his name on it and the words "national police": a document which allows him to present himself as a police officer on duty

The fake policeman's explanations

Questioned by investigators, A. Diédhiou attempted to justify his presence in Ziguinchor. He explained that he arrived in the city last Tuesday from Linguère. The reason for his trip: to visit his paternal family who live in Ziguinchor.

Regarding the pair of handcuffs found in his possession, the mechanic provides a rather surprising explanation. According to him, the handcuffs belonged to a police officer friend who serves in Kaolack. This friend came to visit him in Linguère and left the handcuffs in his room. Diédhiou claims to have simply kept them since this oversight.

But this version struggles to convince investigators. How then can the possession of the national police badge and insignia be explained? The suspect provides no credible explanation for the origin of these other objects.

The police did not stop at the bar arrest. They decided to take their investigations further by searching A. Diédhiou's room in Ziguinchor.

This home search reveals a new compromising element: a fake weapon. It is an additional accessory to make his deception credible in the eyes of those he seeks to deceive.

Faced with the accumulation of material evidence and the absence of convincing explanations, A. Diédhiou was taken into custody at the Ziguinchor police station. He is being prosecuted for usurpation of office.
