FIFA : Michel Platini attaque Gianni Infantino en justice
Nearly eleven years after the scandal that shattered his ambitions to lead FIFA, Michel Platini is fighting back. The former UEFA president announced on Monday that he has filed a complaint against Gianni Infantino, the current FIFA president, according to a statement sent to AFP.
The former captain of the French national team accuses the Italian-Swiss executive of "influence peddling" and "malicious denunciation." This legal action comes just three days before the start of the 2026 World Cup.
The complaint also targets two former officials of FIFA, whose names were not specified in the statement. According to Michel Platini's lawyers, this procedure should lead to the appointment of an investigating judge to examine the allegations.
For Platini, this move marks a new stage in the long legal saga that began in 2015, the year his candidacy for the FIFA presidency was abruptly halted by the investigations that led to his suspension from the world of football.
