La Police nationale sonne l’alerte sur les violations de l’arrêté Ousmane Ngom
The National Police issued a statement to Seneweb deploring the recurring political or civic activities organized by individuals in areas it describes as "highly sensitive," without prior authorization from the relevant administrative authorities.
In this text, the institution firmly reiterates that the city center is subject to Ministerial Order No. 007589, commonly known as the "Ousmane Ngom Order", which "strictly and permanently" prohibits any demonstration of a political nature in this area, which it describes as "strategic" for the capital.
Faced with what it describes as "abuses," the National Police warns that anyone violating these legal provisions will face "the full force of the law." It specifies that "no breach of prior notification procedures or administrative prohibitions will be tolerated."
The institution also reaffirms its "unwavering commitment to guaranteeing the safety of persons and property," adding that any attack "on the laws of the Republic, on respect for the authority of the State and on public order will be rigorously and immediately repressed, in accordance with the laws in force."
This statement comes the day after the arrest, Wednesday morning in Dakar, of activists Abdou Karim Guéye, alias "Karim Xurum Xax," and Babacar Ba. The two men were at the Ministry of Family, Social Action, and Solidarity to file a petition. They were released after being questioned at the Dakar Central Police Station's urban security division.
