Saint-Louis : 12e Bataillon d’instruction, 1 996 nouvelles recrues prêtent serment au drapeau national
The 12th Training Battalion hosted a solemn ceremony on Wednesday, December 24th, marking a decisive step in the journey of 1,996 new soldiers, including 92 women, from the 2025 cohort. During the official presentation of the national flag, these young recruits took an oath, thus sealing their commitment to the service of the Nation and the Senegalese people.
Presided over by the commander of Military Zone No. 2, Colonel Alioune Samassa, the ceremony took place in an atmosphere of solemnity and powerful symbolism. It began with a review of the troops, followed by a speech dedicated to the presentation of the flag, a central moment recalling the values of loyalty, sacrifice, and discipline that underpin the military institution.
The swearing-in ceremony of the new recruits, accompanied by the Battalion's song, was one of the highlights of the event. Through this act, the soldiers affirmed their determination to defend the territorial integrity and ideals of the Republic.
The event concluded with a parade of the flag before the troops, followed by hand-to-hand combat demonstrations. These highly symbolic exercises highlighted the discipline, cohesion, and operational readiness of the recruits, who are now ready to continue their training within the Senegalese Armed Forces.
