Sécurisation du Gamou de Médina Baye : Un quinquagénaire arrêté à Ndiaffate avec 2,6 kg de chanvre indien par l'OCRTIS

As part of operations to secure the Gamou of Medina Baye in Kaolack, the Saloum regional narcotics squad of OCRTIS carried out a major drug seizure at 2:20 a.m. last night in the village of Sinthiou Bandoulou, in the commune of Ndiaffate. The sleuths arrested A. Diaw, aged 51, who presented himself as a farmer and mason, living in the village, according to Seneweb sources.

During this operation, plainclothes police officers seized a considerable quantity of narcotics including 2.6 kg and 82 cones of Indian hemp, 16 "passols" of 3,000 CFA francs each, three pairs of scissors (probably used for packaging) and the sum of 20,000 CFA francs.

This successful operation demonstrates the vigilance of police officers in the fight against drug trafficking, particularly during large religious gatherings where crowds can encourage this type of illicit activity.

The investigation continues to determine the extent of this trafficking network and identify possible accomplices. The accused fifty-year-old was taken into custody for possession and trafficking of Indian hemp.
