Gitex Maroc 2026 : Le Sénégal sur le toit de l’Afrique grâce à AI-Karangué
The African and global tech innovation community gathered in Marrakech from April 7th to 9th for the 4th edition of Gitex Africa. "Catalyzing the African digital economy in the age of artificial intelligence" was the theme chosen for this year's event, which brought together more than 1,400 exhibitors from over 130 countries worldwide. Beyond showcasing innovative technology solutions, Gitex Africa Morocco recognizes the continent's most outstanding projects with the "Cyber & AI Achiever Awards." This highly anticipated competition attracted over 7,300 entries, ultimately awarding prizes to four startups. Following this rigorous selection process, a Senegalese company stood out: Art'Beau-Rescence. Founded in 2022, it distinguished itself in the "Best Young Artificial Intelligence Company" category. Art'Beau-Rescence owes this distinction to their product, Ai-Karangué, an "advanced" technological solution powered by artificial intelligence and designed to transform road safety and fleet management in Senegal. "Our startup, Art'Beau-Rescence, received the award for best startup in Africa thanks to the real-world data our product provides, but also to its concrete and measurable impact, as AI-Karangué is no longer in the testing or pilot phase: it is a proven product that is currently in use," explained Mouhamadou Sarr, Sales Director of the startup Art'Beau-Rescence.
An appeal to the authorities for consideration of their product
This award received in Marrakech already seems to be bearing fruit. According to its representative, in addition to networking, Ai-Karangué should soon be expanding not only in Morocco but also in the sub-region, targeting transport companies. However, this expansion, while welcome, feels somewhat incomplete for the startup, as Dakar Dem Dikk has not yet adopted their solution. "We're not begging, but simply asking that local innovation be believed in before it receives continental trophies and awards. We urge stakeholders in mobility, transport, and road safety not to let Western players reap the benefits of AI-Karangué before they do," says Mouhamadou Sarr. Ai-Karangué is no stranger to awards. At the first Govathon in 2024, the product won first prize. But since then, the company admits to having received no support from any organization other than the hackathons it wins.
