Rapport Londa 2025 : Le Sénégal dans le top 5 africain des droits numériques
Senegal is among the top ten African countries in terms of respect for digital rights, according to the Londa 2025 Report presented at the Digital Rights and Inclusion Forum (DRIF26) in Abidjan. The country ranks 4th on the continent, behind South Africa, Ghana, and Namibia.
This report offers a data-driven assessment of internet freedoms, political environments, and emerging risks related to digital rights. It provides an annual overview of progress and setbacks observed across the continent.
The digital rights rating index is one of the main analytical tools. It is based on several indicators, including access to information, freedom of expression, privacy protection, and digital inclusion.
In this ranking, Senegal is positioned ahead of several countries such as Egypt, Zambia, Kenya, and Nigeria. South Africa retains first place for the second consecutive year, reflecting "the strength of its digital rights framework."
The report also highlights contrasting trends across the continent. Botswana and Egypt recorded the most significant improvements, while Nigeria and Cameroon fell in the rankings.
Beyond its ranking, Senegal is also among the countries analyzed in a study on disinformation. Entitled "Africa Facing Down: Disinformation," this report examines the impact of this phenomenon in six African countries, including Senegal. The study highlights several trends, notably attacks against factually accurate information and the spread of content that relies on appeals to emotions and identity.
The document also discusses the role of certain online influencers and activists, presented as disseminators of this content. It highlights forms of engagement that vary according to age, gender, and location. These elements contribute to a better understanding of information dynamics in the countries concerned.
The presentation of the Londa 2025 Report took place within the framework of a broader program of publications dedicated to digital rights in Africa. Among the initiatives announced was the launch of the Digital Rights On-Demand Learning platform, which offers free courses designed to raise public awareness of digital issues.
