Dakar Dem Dikk : nouvelle desserte Dakar-Goudomp, une ligne attendue, un véritable soulagement pour les populations
This is a major step forward for the residents of Goudomp, in the Sédhiou department. On April 8, 2026, Dakar Dem Dikk officially launched its new line connecting the department to the capital, bringing the number of departments now covered by the national transport company to 45 out of 46.
For a 485-kilometer journey, the fare is set at 11,000 CFA francs. This initiative reflects a stated commitment to territorial equity and improving the mobility of the population.
At the Dakar Dem Dikk terminus in Grand-Yoff, as well as along the roads, the enthusiasm is palpable. For many users, this service puts an end to long periods of travel difficulties, particularly in a context marked by regular disruptions to intercity transport.
"Frankly, it's a huge relief. Before, traveling was very complicated, especially during strikes. Today, we can breathe a little easier," says Mr. Minkete, a passenger encountered boarding the bus, visibly relieved.
For local authorities and officials, this bus line is a concrete response to the needs of the population. Yahya Sadio, representative in the office of the President of the Republic, praised an initiative "that changes the daily lives of residents" and thanked the government and Dakar Dem Dikk for this effort.
However, the coordinator of the Dem Dikk transport point, Madina Savané, calls for going further.
While this progress is significant, he points out that several areas of the department remain outside the network's reach. Goudomp, with its 15 municipalities, currently only has partial coverage. Hence his proposal to install a second terminus, notably in Tanaff, to further open up the region.
Beyond its symbolic value, this new line represents a tangible impact: reduced travel difficulties, gradual opening up of isolated areas, and improved accessibility for residents. Many believe this initiative deserves to be strengthened and expanded to cover the entire department.
