The research brigade (BR) of the gendarmerie company of Thiès has dismantled a network specializing in the issuance of fake technical aptitude certificates and other documents necessary for the registration of vehicles.

According to Seneweb sources close to the prosecutor's office, members of this organization operated near the Regional Directorate of Land Transport in Thiès, where they offered vehicle owners fake technical inspections.

The investigation was triggered following the exploitation of intelligence which led to the arrest of two canvassers, B. Diène alias "Papito" and Ibrahima Thiam.

In the aftermath, a third suspect, Mr. Guèye, was arrested for using a forged document. He had given his vehicle registration document to the network in order to fraudulently obtain a vehicle inspection.

The investigations continued with the arrest of a fourth individual, Mr. Sidibé, prosecuted for issuing false technical inspections.

The searches resulted in the seizure of several pieces of evidence. On B.Diène, the gendarmes found stamps from the Regional Division of Land Transport, a stamp from the head of the division, a technical inspection validity stamp, a date stamp, and blank copies of technical aptitude certificates.

At I. Thiam's, investigators discovered about ten technical aptitude certificates, registration application receipts, tax stamps, a transport authorization application, and four other technical aptitude certificates.

At the end of the investigation, the four suspects were brought before the public prosecutor at the Thiès High Court on Wednesday.
