État–transporteurs : une rencontre de la dernière chance, ce jeudi ?
After several unsuccessful rounds of negotiations in recent days, the transporters, gathered within the Federation of Road Haulers of Senegal, are expected this Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Ministry of Labour for a new session of discussions with their supervising minister, Yankhoba Diémé.
According to one of the federation's officials, who have been on strike for several days, this meeting could be a turning point and lead to a favorable outcome to the crisis, reports Le Soleil.
This resumption of dialogue comes in a context marked by calls for calm launched in particular from Tivaouane and Medina Gounass, on the approach of major religious events namely the general ziarra scheduled for April 12 and the Daaka, scheduled from April 18 to 27.
As a reminder, the striking transport workers are demanding, among other things, the regularization of VTCs, particularly those operating via Yango, as well as the lifting of the measure reducing the number of seats in minibuses, commonly known as "Cheikhou Chérifou".
