Partenariat État-AFTU : Le programme « Yonu-Jam » officiellement lancé lors des festivités de l'indépendance
To mark the 66th anniversary of Senegal's independence, the Association for the Financing of Urban Transport Professionals (AFTU) played a key role in the logistical organization of the parade. By deploying its new buses from the "Yonu-Jam" program, the organization supported the national army, thus marking a symbolic step in the modernization of intercity transport.
The parade on April 4, 2026, was not only a demonstration of military strength, but also a showcase for the modernization of public services. To ensure the transport of authorities and military contingents, AFTU provided a fleet of new vehicles, demonstrating its "civic commitment" and the strength of its partnership with the State and the Directorate of Built Heritage Management (DGSCN).
The "Yonu-Jam" program at the forefront
These new buses, described as "modern and efficient," represent the first milestone in a major project. This is the first batch of 100 vehicles out of a total of 200 currently being acquired. This deployment during the national holiday underscores AFTU's commitment to being present at key national events while addressing a pressing issue: the aging of the intercity bus fleet.
For AFTU, the objective of this program is clear: to offer Senegalese people "safer, more comfortable, and resolutely future-oriented mobility." By gradually replacing older models with this latest-generation fleet, the association intends to permanently transform the travel experience for the population.
The close collaboration between AFTU and the national army for this event illustrates the synergy between the private transport sector and republican institutions. Beyond the logistical aspect, this presence at the parade symbolizes the transport operators' commitment to the modernization ambitions championed by the authorities. Under the slogan "AFTU – Yonu-Jam, at the heart of major transformations," the organization reaffirms its role as a strategic partner of the State in improving transport infrastructure in Senegal.
