Appel à une souveraineté économique enracinée : le magistrat Yakham Keïta décortique Tekk Tégui Tékki
Magistrate Mamadou Yakham Keïta presented his book, "Tekk Tégui Tékki, Popular Tontine for Entrepreneurship and Employment in Africa," in Dakar on Friday. The work argues for economic sovereignty built upon African socio-cultural realities. Addressing an audience of lawyers, academics, and development professionals, the author emphasized the need to break with imported economic models and to build upon the historical foundation of community solidarity to create more appropriate financing mechanisms.
"Our financing systems don't reflect who we are."
Yakham Keïta paints a stark picture: prohibitive interest rates, inaccessible guarantees, out-of-touch bureaucratic systems, and the inability of existing structures to absorb the 300,000 young people entering the job market each year. "The problem isn't a lack of will among our young people and women. It's the financing mechanisms that aren't aligned with our realities," he stated. The Tekk Tégui Tékki project proposes mobilizing "painless savings": 100 francs per citizen, deposited into a national fund, and redistributed to project leaders after evaluation and a public draw. The program includes: "collection points visible throughout the country, a secure digital system, systematic support for beneficiaries, flexible repayments based on business cycles, and 15 funding sources to ensure sustainability," he said. Furthermore, Yakham Keïta is relying on a diversified financial architecture: crowdfunding, fundraising, co-branding, automated micro-donations, voluntary payroll deductions, and participation from public institutions. "Each raffle will be a fundraising event, with an audience mobilized by the hope of an economic opportunity," he explains. For the magistrate, this project embodies an African path: "We must build from where we are, transforming our solidarity into economic energy." With Tekk Tégui Tékki, Yakham Keïta is proposing a system that aims to be popular, transparent, and structuring. A clear call for endogenous economic reconstruction, driven by the citizens themselves.
