Assises des daaras : Serigne Mountakha bénit le processus, 3000 daaras recensés à Touba
The Minister of National Education, Moustapha Mamba Guirassy, presented the conclusions of the regional consultations in Diourbel regarding the establishment of daaras (Koranic schools) to the Caliph General of the Mourides. The meeting concluded on Saturday with Serigne Mountakha Mbacké bestowing his blessing on the process.
According to the minister, the Caliph emphasized that these meetings do not only concern the daaras (Koranic schools), but will impact the entire Senegalese education system. The objective is to integrate the spiritual values promoted by Koranic schools into the country's formal education.
Moustapha Guirassy indicated that this approach aims to establish intellectual, educational, and cultural sovereignty. The daaras represent an important part of Senegalese history, particularly that of resistance and national culture.
More than 3,000 daaras were identified in Touba and all participated in the consultations. The minister thanked the administrative authorities, the steering committee, the scientific committee, and the Rabita association for its contribution.
The minister stressed that these meetings are not intended to replace the current system, but to strengthen it by integrating elements corresponding to Senegalese identity.
The Caliph encouraged the government to finalize this process quickly. Moustapha Guirassy concluded by stating that the government bears a heavy responsibility and that the success of these meetings is crucial for future generations and the development of the country.
